An award-winning 1807 pub with a typically sensitive, tasteful restoration by Ossett Brewery having an impressive tiled flowerpot as the centrepiece. The pub boasts four separate drinking areas and a real fire. There is a terrace and riverside beer garden. Quiz night is Tuesday. Nine ales are offered from Ossett's five breweries and independents, usually including a mild or stout, plus a cider. The pub is on the Transpennine Real Ale Trail and holds occasional beer and cider festivals.
