When does the local branch meet?

We usually meet monthly for an open branch meeting where we discuss current matters and decide such things as which pubs to nominate for the Good Beer Guide, which to award a Pub of the Season and/or Pub of the Year certificate to, all done democratically and as fairly as we can.
Other topics include beer festivals, pub preservation and local pub news, which is the main source of content for the news pages of our quarterly branch magazine, Real Ale Talk.

All 7pm unless otherwise stated:-

  • February Branch Meeting Thursday 5 February 2026 19:00 Cellar Bar

Meeting includes selection of pubs and clubs to go into the next Good Beer Guide. Branch members may vote in person or by proxy - forms may be downloaded from the Members' Area of this website in due course.
We will also be accepting nominations for our latest pub of the season and nominating venues for Club of the Year and Cider Pub of the Year!

  • Pub of the Season presentation Thursday 12 February 2026 19:45 George

Presentation of the Spring Pub of the Season award
The George is a great community pub with frequent events and entertainments, plus a varied selection of cask ales, usually including White Rat and Tetley Bitter plus a couple of interesting guests, often with a dark option.

  • Branch Social, Cleckheaton Thursday 19 February 2026 19:00 Marsh

Branch social starting at the Marsh, then Rose & Crown, Spen Tap, Obediah Brooke and anywhere else we fancy in Cleckheaton (venues may change according to demand on the night)
    All welcome, members and friends.

  • Club of the Season presentation Saturday 21 February 2026 19:45 Hartshead Moor Club

Presentation of the Winter 2025/26 Club of the Season award to a fine club with good atmosphere and some well-kept ale.
There is usually Bradfield Farmers Blonde on the bar and certainly when we visited recently the condition and appearance were immaculate, with the Autovac helping produce a tight, creamy head.
While plain on the outside, the interior of the club is clean and beautifully furnished, having two main rooms, one with a stage used for performances and the other having well-maintained pool and snooker tables.
