Attractive club in rural location, founded 1895 (or maybe 1903?) on the site of coalminers' showers. The layout is open plan featuring a large horse shoe bar, comfortable seating, full-size snooker table and a small stage regularly used for live music and open mic sessions on Fridays plus quiz night on Wednesdays. The friendly community club, popular with walkers and ramblers, also serves non-members and has carefully chosen guest beers. There are good views of the South Pennines from the small beer garden. The area has connections with the Bronte family, the three sisters being educated nearby. The grave of the outlaw Robin Hood lies in a small wood about a mile distant. Four pumps, usually three on at once. Evening buses, 229, are 1200 metres away on Leeds Road.
