Campaign for Real Ale

When does the local branch meet?

Once a month, we meet for an open branch meeting where we discuss current matters and decide such things as which pubs to nominate for the Good Beer Guide, which to award a Pub of the Season and/or Pub of the Year certificate to, all done democratically and as fairly as we can.
Other topics include beer festivals, pub preservation and local pub news, which is the main source of content for the news pages of our quarterly branch magazine, Real Ale Talk.

All 8pm unless otherwise stated:-

  • December branch meeting Tuesday 10 December 2019 20:00 Hanging Heaton Cricket Club

Monthly Members' Meeting including regular business, pub news and
Nominations for Pub of the Winter Season

  • Club of the Season presentation Wednesday 11 December 2019 20:00 East Bierley Cricket Club

Presentation of our latest Club of the Season award to a fine club where the three beers are well kept and their two quickly rotating guest beers are chosen by the members.

  • January Branch Meeting Monday 13 January 2020 20:00 Black Bull

This is our first opportunity for some time to hold a meeting at the Black Bull in Dewsbury, now beautifully restored.
Final nominations for the next Good Beer Guide will be made.
Also, we will be voting for the next Pub of the Season, nominations TBA; please get in touch if you would like to vote by proxy or if you have opinions on the nominations.

  • Special Presentation, 25 years in the Good Beer Guide Thursday 23 January 2020 20:00 West Riding Refreshment Rooms

Quite a milestone; 25 years of consecutive well-deserved entries in the Good Beer Guide for what has become for many the flagship real ale pub for the branch.
